In the heart of Salerno’s historical center, long via dei Mercanti, it was built between the X and the XI century. The external façade is modern since it was realized in the 50’s after some damages caused by the 1965 flood. It presents three portals and overlooks on a small square. The inside has a Basilica three nave plan with pointed arches, that lay on columns with shafts and capitals all different from one another. In the central apse there is a large mosaic realized in 1961 that reproduces the crucifixion fresco that is located in the underlying crypt and that can be accessed from the right side nave. The crypt, discovered in 1950, has a Basilica plan too, with three little naves separated by arches with cross vaults. Inside there is what remains of the crucifixion fresco, that can be dated back to the XIII and the XIV century, as well as triptych frescoes of saints: San Sisto, San Lorenzo and San Pellegrino.
