Via Ss. Cosma e Damiano

Territorio: Salerno e costiera amalfitana

Situated in the ancient nucleus of Eboli, the religious complex is made of two buildings that face each other: the Church and the Sanctuary. The church, constructed around the year 1000, was destroyed in 1164, and was then rebuilt on the same ruins but dedicated to San Sebastiano and afterwards restored in Baroque style in 1771. It was then that the cult for the saint doctors Cosma e Damiano started again. The church’s inside, with one single nave, presents long the walls and the apse, a series of large glass windows decorated with the Saint’s martyrs life. In 1954 the construction of the new building was started, with one nave, in modern style with the side walls and the apse decorated with mosaics. Inside you can admire the paintings of the Immacolata Concezione (XVI cent.) and of the Deposizione (Sicilian school of the XVIII cent.)
